Privacy Policy

Cajamar takes your privacy very seriously.

We understand the need to safeguard your personal and financial information, and respect your rights under the 1993 Privacy Act.

From time to time we collect, retain and use information about you that we reasonably believe will help us administer our business and provide you with relevant products, services and information. We maintain our security standards and regularly update our technology to provide protection for your personal and financial information.

Who are "we"?
In this Privacy Policy, all references to "we", "us", "our", and "the Bank" include all companies in the Cajamar Group. Your personal information may be accessed and used by any of us for the purposes referred to below.

How we use your information
We do not sell, publish or give away your information. Information about you provided to us can be used by any of us and our suppliers to carry out our business. In certain circumstances, we may be obliged to disclose information to law enforcement or other government officials. For example, in connection with an investigation of fraud or any other activity that is illegal, or that may expose us to legal liability. We make every effort to keep your personal details up to date. You may also update your details through our branches, over the telephone, or, in the future, some details will be able to be updated through our website.

How we use e-mail
We may from time to time contact you by e-mail about operational matters on your accounts.

We may keep details of any exchange of e-mails between us, as we do for traditional correspondence.

We only use e-mail for marketing purposes with your consent. We may from time to time offer you a chance to opt-in to receive certain information and updates from us. You may at any time opt-out from all or some types of information through this channel. You can amend your details by returning the opt-out e-mail.

You may also call us to ask us to remove your e-mail address completely from your customer record, if you do not wish us to e-mail you at all, even for operational matters relating to your accounts with us.

Tracking and cookies
We use a tracking system on this website provided by Nielsen//NetRatings . This system uses cookies (see explanation below) to gather non-personal information about visitors to our website. The only information collected is the number of visitors to our site, when they visit, what and how many pages are viewed and technical information on browser connections.

Our only use of this information is in analyzing responses to our online advertising and use of our website. The Tracking Company adheres to a Privacy Policy based on the Netherlands Privacy Act 1993. You can read about the Tracking Company's Privacy Policy at their website.

We may use ‘cookies' (except within our Online Banking service) to provide you with access to tailored information and services from our website, and to serve you better when you return to it. A cookie is a small data file that the website sends to your browser, which may in turn store it on your system for later retrieval by our site. Cookies track your movements through different websites; they do not record any other personal information about you. Cookies are widely used on websites to help with navigation and to help personalize your experience when you visit a website. You can also obtain more information on the Internet; for example, by visiting www.microsoft.com or www.netscape.com .

You should be able to instruct your browser not to accept cookies, or to notify you when you receive them. Apart from our DirectDeal service, you do not need to accept cookies to access our services on the Internet, but if you choose not to accept them, some information may not be available to you.

What you can do to ensure your privacy
Cajamar Online Banking, and any other areas where you may be asked to provide confidential information, use 128-bit encryption technology to help prevent unauthorized access.

To take advantage of this level of security, you need a reasonably up-to-date browser such as Netscape Navigator/Communicator 4.06 (or higher), or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (or higher). If you do not have a browser with this capability, you will need to upgrade before you can use Online Banking or any other functions that require us to identify you, or allow you to access your personal information. You can download the latest browsers from the Netscape website or the Microsoft website.

The most important thing for you to remember is never to let anyone else know your Personal Identification Number (PIN) and you should never enter these on any website except the Bank’s.

What happens to information provided for online job applications or registrations of interest?
The personal information collected through online job applications or registrations of interest will be held by Cajamar of Spain for the purpose of assessing your suitability for employment with the Bank. Pursuant to the Privacy Act 1993 you may request access to and correction of the personal information you provide to the Bank with your application. You can do this by making a written request to the Recruitment Co-ordinator, Cajamar.
